NEW YORK (February 14, 2007) - Penton's Lodging Hospitality magazine and Pineapple Hospitality today announced The Green Hospitality Conference, a new industry event focusing on green lodging opportunities, from energy management to earth-friendly cleaning products, as well as the challenges facing hotel owners and operators seeking to become more involved in the growing industry movement toward sustainability. The conference will take place Wednesday, March 14 at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas. Agenda and registration information is available at www.greenhospitality.net.

The Green Hospitality Conference will be one of the first events in the lodging industry to be certified as 'carbon neutral,' an initiative administered by Sustainable Travel International in which sponsors provide funds to offset carbon emissions produced during the event. Sponsor funds are used to sponsor renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in the U.S.

The program will feature an expert roster of speakers from the hotel industry and the green movement, including the following individuals and sessions:

  • David Oakey, author and a leading advocate of sustainable design, will deliver the luncheon keynote speech, focusing on the use of nature to solve problems in design, business and life.

  • Interactive panel discussions will focus on issues hoteliers face in applying green principles. Topics will include green housekeeping, design and construction and green power.

  • Roundtable discussions will enable attendees to listen and pose questions to experts on a variety of green topics, including energy efficiency, water conservation and waste reduction, as well as recycling and indoor air quality.

  • The closing session will feature an all-star panel of hotel company officers who will report on the results of the roundtable discussions.

The final conference cocktail reception will include attendees from the Strategic Conference on

Hospitality Operations and Technology (HOT), which begins on Thursday, March 15 at the Hilton Anatole and is also sponsored by Lodging Hospitality.
