Penton Media Names Jean B. Clifton as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer

NEW YORK (June 16, 2008) - Penton Media, Inc. today announced the appointment of Jean B. Clifton as executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company. A former senior vice president and CFO of Reader's Digest Association, Clifton will report to Penton CEO John French.
Clifton has been a consultant to Platinum Strategic Partners, LLC, a media advisory service and investment company, since leaving Reader's Digest in March of this year. She had previously served as president and COO of the Journal Register Company, following a 17-year career as executive vice president, CFO and treasurer of Journal Register and its predecessor company. She began her financial career as an auditor at Arthur Young & Co. and later joined Journal Register as an assistant controller.
Clifton received her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Michigan. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, she serves on the board of trustees of the Newspaper Association of America Foundation and the boards of other non-profit organizations, including the American Red Cross.
