XVI International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC) to co-locate with International Coal Prep Exhibition & Conference
Stamford, CT (September 21, 2009) - Penton Media’s Coal Prep Exhibition and Conference is proud to announce that the XVI International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC) will be co-locating with Coal Prep 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky, April 25-29, 2010. The International Coal Preparation Congress (ICPC) provides a forum for coal preparation professionals to meet on a quadrennial basis in rotating venues around the globe. The ICPC will be hosted by the Coal Preparation Society of America (CPSA) and the International Organizing Committee (IOC).
This will be the first time the United States will be hosting the Congress since 1966. It is an honor for the U.S. community of coal professionals for the U.S. to have been the chosen venue for 2010. The ICPC Keynote Address will be followed by ten-minute presentations on the state of coal preparation in each of the major coal-producing countries. The Closing Ceremony will introduce Gülhan Özbayoğlu of Turkey who will be the next Chairman of the International Organizing Committee (IOC) with Turkey hosting the XVII ICPC 2013. “Co-locating the two events, and supporting the National Organizing Committee of the ICPC, allows Coal Prep the opportunity to provide its full support to the Coal Processing community which we are proud to serve,” said Rita Ugianskis, Group Show Director of Penton Media’s Coal Prep.
Coal Prep, the annual Coal Processing Exhibition and Conference (www.coalprepshow.com) is the U.S. coal preparation industry’s premier event. Nearly 3,000 professionals come to Coal Prep every year to see the latest products and technologies from over 250 leading suppliers of coal processing equipment and services. “This is an exciting time for the U.S. coal preparation vendor and supplier community who will have the opportunity to showcase their products, equipment, and technologies to a larger international audience,” said Sam Posa, Coal Prep’s Sales Manager. In celebration of this co-location year, there will be a cocktail reception hosted by ICPC on the exhibit floor Monday evening, April 25, to allow dedicated networking time between ICPC participants and Coal Prep exhibitors.
The conference program for the 2010 Coal Prep event will continue to be organized by the CPSA committee but its content will differ than in previous years to enable the ICPC event to cover the topics of importance to this event and the world-wide community it serves. In 2010, the Coal Prep conference program will be organized into a series of Workshops which will support the informational and training needs of coal preparation professionals, enabling the ICPC event to exclusively focus on a technical program including paper and poster presentations. The ICPC’s Technical Program will consist of over 130 papers from 17 different countries. Mel Laurila, President of the CPSA, summed up the advantages of the co-location for the coal preparation community. "The combination of a professional society putting together the technical programs and a private company organizing the exhibition provides the best of both worlds - two high quality programs geared for both coal prep professionals and operators and the largest display of coal preparation equipment in the world."
The Coal Prep conference program will continue to offer professional development hours along with many opportunities to network with peers, clients, and colleagues. The workshops will cover an extensive-walk through of various technologies and equipment used in the coal preparation plant such as heavy medium vessels, heavy medium cyclones, spirals, floatation – conventional & column, dewatering, screening and operations. In 2011, the Coal Prep conference program will revert back to its usual format.
